Brian Heyworth was named global head of institutional business at HSBC Global Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new. Mr. Heyworth is responsible for strategic development of the firm's institutional business.
Mr. Heyworth joined HSBC in October 2006 as head of global markets sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In his most recent role, he was global head of client strategy at HSBC Global Asset Management. Details on his replacement could not be learned.
"Brian will be instrumental in further developing our proposition to two distinct sets of clients and clearly differentiating our offering in a competitive marketplace," Nicolas Moreau, global CEO, said in a news release.
HSBC Global Asset Management had $512 billion in assets under management as of Sept. 12.
