Joanna Munro was named global CIO at HSBC Global Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
Ms. Munro will replace Chris Cheetham who, as was announced in May, has decided to retire from his full-time executive role. Ms. Munro will assume the role at the end of September, reporting directly to Global CEO Nicolas Moreau.
Ms. Munro is currently global head of stewardship and fiduciary governance and chairwoman of HSBC Global Asset Management U.K.
"(Ms. Munro's) ability to encourage global collaboration, track record in bringing people together and attitude towards problem-solving makes her the ideal candidate for this role," Mr. Moreau said in a news release. "I am confident that with her extensive, global experience we will be in an even stronger place to help clients meet their investment objectives."
HSBC Global Asset Management had $503 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
