Stuart White was named global head of strategy and U.K. and international CEO at HSBC Global Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
The new role is effective immediately.
Mr. White's current role as head of strategy will be expanded to include oversight of the firm's entities in the U.K., Bermuda, Malta, Turkey and money management activities in Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong. The appointment is subject to regulatory approvals.
Mr. White takes on responsibilities of Andy Clark, who was U.K. CEO. Mr. Clark decided to leave to pursue other opportunities, a news release said. Details on his future were not available.
Mr. White will also lead the delivery of the firm's future strategy, M&A and corporate management activities. He will report to global CEO Nicolas Moreau.
"Stuart has been instrumental in driving the strategic direction for our business and I look forward to continue working with him to ensure that we meet our clients' evolving investment needs and deliver the ambitious growth plans we have set out," Mr. Moreau said in the release.
HSBC GAM had $510 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
