Paul Griffiths was appointed global head of institutional business at HSBC Asset Management, effective May 5.
Mr. Griffiths will replace Brian Heyworth, who left the firm last year. Mr. Heyworth joined Lansdowne Partners in January as co-managing partner, according to the firm's website.
Mr. Griffiths will report to Nicolas Moreau, CEO, and will be responsible for the commercial development of HSBC AM's institutional business. He will also lead the institutional sales and client management teams.
"Paul's extensive investment management experience and deep knowledge of the needs of institutional clients will prove invaluable as we continue to develop our proposition and differentiate our offering in the market," Mr. Moreau said in a news release.
The firm had $357.2 billion in institutional assets under management as of Dec. 31, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Griffiths was CIO, fixed income and multiasset solutions, at First Sentier Investors. He was not directly replaced. Perry Clausen was appointed global CIO representing all investment capabilities for the firm, a spokeswoman said.
