Dominic Clabby joined HSBC Asset Management as head of ETF strategy, based in London.
The role is new, and Mr. Clabby reports to Carmen Gonzalez-Calatayud, head of ETF capability.
Expanding the exchange-traded funds range is a strategic growth initiative for HSBC Asset Management, particularly in ESG, Asia and fixed income, a spokesman said. Mr. Clabby's appointment is instrumental in bringing the initiative to life.
He will drive the firm's ETF product strategy and lead the expansion of the firm's recently created ETF strategy function. The firm's ETFs AUM is $13.1 billion.
"ETFs continue to feature as a key component in investors' portfolios and we're seeing strong growth and momentum within our ETF range. Dominic's appointment will allow us to continue innovating our product range to enable us to offer market leading products to our clients," Thorsten Michalik, global head of external wholesale and ETFs, said in a news release.
Mr. Clabby was head of product engagement at Invesco ETFs. The firm did not make a "like-for-like" replacement for Mr. Clabby, but his responsibilities were allocated across other members of the Invesco ETFs team to ensure continuity, a spokesman said.
