Richard Smith joined HSBC Asset Management as head of U.K. credit solutions.
Whether the role is new could not immediately be learned.
Smith reports to Oliver Boulind, head of global credit, a news release said. He is responsible for developing bespoke global fixed income offerings and managing global bond portfolios.
'We are pleased to welcome Richard to the team as part of our ongoing effort to boost HSBC AM's fixed income capabilities, and further drive our long-term client and growth commitments,' Boulind said in the release.
HSBC AM has $651 billion in assets under management.
Smith was an investment director at abrdn, managing global corporate, aggregate, total return and buy and maintain portfolios.
Spokespersons for HSBC AM and abrdn did not respond to requests for comment.
