John Harper joined H.I.G. Capital as a managing director and head of the London leveraged buyout team.
Mr. Harper replaced Carl Harring, who is now senior adviser to H.I.G. Capital, said Wolfgang Biedermann, executive managing director and head of Europe buyouts.
Mr. Harper joined Monday and leads the private equity firm's small-cap investments in the U.K., Ireland, Scandinavia and Holland.
"He has an impressive track record of successful investments and I am absolutely confident that he is the right person to further strengthen H.I.G.'s franchise in northern Europe," Mr. Biedermann said in a news release.
H.I.G. Capital has more than €34 billion ($38.1 billion) in equity capital under management.
Mr. Harper was a partner at private equity firm Inflexion. A spokeswoman could not immediately be reached for comment.
