Elizabeth T. Burton was named client investment strategist in client solutions and capital markets at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, a new position.
Ms. Burton will report to J. Christopher Kojima, partner and GSAM's global head of client solutions and capital markets, Mr. Kojima said in an internal memo obtained by Pensions & Investments.
In the memo, Mr. Kojima said Ms. Burton "will advise our institutional clients on their investment strategy and portfolio objectives, working alongside our global client advisors and product strategists across public and private markets."
Ms. Burton was previously chief investment officer of the $22 billion Hawaii Employees' Retirement System, Honolulu. She left the pension fund on June 30. Howard Hodel, the pension fund's deputy CIO, is currently serving as acting CIO, and Anthony Goo, investment officer of public markets, is serving as acting deputy CIO.
The pension fund recently began seeking an executive search firm to assist it in finding a replacement for Ms. Burton.
As of June 30, Goldman Sachs Asset Management had $1.82 trillion in assets under supervision.
