Stephane Amara was named managing director and head of Canada institutional client business at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
Based in Montreal, Amara will report to Christopher Keogh and Stephanie Ivy Sanford, co-heads of the Americas institutional client business, according to a Sept. 25 news release.
A spokesman for Goldman Sachs Asset Management could not immediately provide further information on who Amara is replacing.
Amara was previously managing director of institutional sales at MFS Investment Management, where he focused on institutional sales and client relations in Canada. MFS spokesman Daniel Flaherty said his duties will be shared by existing members of the firm's Canada institutional sales and relationship management team while a search for a permanent replacement is conducted.
As of June 30, Goldman Sachs Asset Management had $2.7 trillion in assets under supervision.
