Simon Harris, partner, was named interim head of the global equity team and a portfolio manager by Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Co., spokesman Tucker Hewes confirmed in an email.
Mr. Harris was a member of the firm's global equity group and replaces Neil Constable, a partner, who left at the end of June to become the first chief investment officer for CircleUp Advisors.
A CircleUp spokesman said in an email that Mr. Constable will "oversee our three investment strategies — private market systematic equity, discretionary equity, and credit — and is now based at our offices in San Francisco."
Mr. Hewes declined to comment about whether GMO plans to name a permanent head of the global equity team.
GMO managed $66.9 billion as of April 30. CircleUp's AUM was not available.
