Edward Mason was named director of engagement and impact reporting at Generation Investment Management, a spokeswoman said.
The role is new. Mr. Mason will lead the firm's efforts toward achieving the United Nations' sustainable development goals by engaging with portfolio companies, effective June.
Mr. Mason was head of responsible investment at the £8.3 billion ($10.2 billion) Church Commissioners for England, London. A spokesman said a search for his replacement is underway. "An appointment (will be) announced in due course," he said.
Mr. Mason developed the Church Commissioners' responsible investment framework and has led its work with internal and external investment managers on environmental, social and governance integration.
Generation has about $25 billion in assets under management.
