John Stergiou has joined investment adviser Fred Alger Management as senior vice president and head of national accounts.
Mr. Stergiou takes over a newly created role, a spokeswoman said by email.
He will be responsible for expanding the firm's business development efforts across the retail channel, said a Tuesday release.
Mr. Stergiou will report to Christoph Hofmann, president and chief distribution officer of Fred Alger & Co., the broker-dealer affiliate of Fred Alger Management.
Mr. Stergiou will be based in New York and lead a team of five business development professionals.
Mr. Stergiou was most recently a managing director at Virtus Investment Partners.

Fred Alger Management has $22 billion in assets under management.
