Matthew McCormick, formerly at Barings, has joined growth equity investment manager Fred Alger Management as senior vice president and head of institutional sales.
Mr. McCormick will be responsible for leading all aspects of the institutional business development of Alger's investment strategies with consultants, corporations, pension plans, and foundations and endowments, said a Wednesday release.
He will also manage a team of five institutional sales, client service, and RFP developers/writers, the release noted.
Based in New York, Mr. McCormick reports to Christoph Hofmann, president and chief distribution officer of Fred Alger & Co., the broker-dealer affiliate of investment adviser Fred Alger Management.
Mr. McCormick's position is a newly created role, said an Alger spokesman by email.
Mr. McCormick was formerly at Barings where he served as managing director-Eastern region and was responsible for institutional sales of the firm's strategies in private and public credit, private real estate equity and debt, and specialty equities, the release noted.
Fred Alger Management has $22 billion in assets under management.
