Spencer Seto was appointed as head of North Asia for institutional business at Franklin Templeton, effective Feb. 5, the firm said in a statement.
The role is new.
Seto is based in Hong Kong and leads the firm's institutional sales, consultant and client relationships in Greater China and South Korea. He reports to head of Asia-Pacific Tariq Ahmad.
Franklin Templeton managed $1.5 trillion as of Dec. 31.
Seto was head of institutional sales for Asia ex-Japan at Janus Henderson Investors, which he left in August. A spokesperson said at the time that his role would not be replaced and that his responsibilities would be shared among existing members of the distribution team. Janus Henderson managed $308 billion in assets as of Sept. 30.
