Michael Foley was named head of U.S. institutional sales at Franklin Templeton.
He will replace Thomas J. Fisher Jr., who left the manager in June, spokeswoman Stacey Coleman said in an email.
Based in New York, Mr. Foley will join Franklin Templeton on Sept. 7 and report to Jeff Masom, head of U.S. distribution.
Mr. Foley was previously senior managing director, head of the institutional client group, Americas, at Guggenheim Investments. Gerard Carney, managing director at Guggenheim, said Chris Parisi, who has been with Guggenheim since 2010, will assume the leadership of that manager's institutional and intermediary distribution teams as head of distribution. Mr. Parisi is a senior managing director with the firm.
As of July 31, Franklin Templeton had more than $1.5 trillion in assets under management.
