Gary Cotton was named managing director-U.K. at First State Investments on Wednesday, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Cotton will replace Chris Turpin, who was appointed to a newly created role of global director of corporate development; he also will remain as managing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Mr. Cotton will be responsible for the management of First State Investments' business in the U.K., reporting to Mr. Turpin.
"We are pleased to welcome Gary to First State Investments. His appointment is an important key step forward in the evolution and development of our affiliate strategy and broader corporate development efforts," Mr. Turpin said in a news release.
Mr. Cotton was previously chief operating officer of M&G Investments. Meagen Burnett was named COO for investments of M&G Prudential in September 2019, a spokeswoman said.
M&G Prudential was formed in March 2019 after M&G Investments merged with life insurance business Prudential U.K. & Europe.
First State Investments had $145 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
