Jamie Downing has been named head of distribution for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at First Sentier Investors, according to a news release.
It is a new position, and Downing will be based in London and start immediately.
Downing will oversee both wholesale and institutional distribution in the EMEA region, with a specific focus on the U.K., Nordic and Middle East markets. He will also be responsible for collaborating with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, First Sentier Investors’ parent company, to explore and deliver new investment opportunities for clients in the region.
The appointment follows senior promotions last year to First Sentiers’ global sales teams. This includes the promotion of Lauren Prendiville to global head of distribution and marketing, following the promotion of Harry Moore to chief commercial officer. Downing will report directly to Prendiville.
"It is a great pleasure to welcome Jamie to the team," Prendiville said in the news release. "His experience and specialism make him the perfect fit for the next phase of our growth in the region, as we look to deepen relationships with our existing clients and build our footprint in key markets."
Downing was the global head of client consulting at bfinance. Officials at bfinance couldn't immediately confirm who replaces Downing in the role when contacted by Pensions & Investments, but a spokesperson for the firm said: “We would like to thank Jamie for his contributions during his time with bfinance and wish him all the best going forward."
As of Dec. 31, First Sentier had $135 billion in assets under management.
