Katie Cowan joined First Eagle Investments as head of insurance client solutions.
The role is a new one at the New York-based manager, which oversaw roughly $128 billion of client assets as of Sept. 30.
Cowan will partner with the firm’s investments teams to deliver strategic solutions customized for the needs of insurance clients, according to a Nov. 29 First Eagle news release.
She will report to Mehdi Mahmud, the firm’s president and CEO.
Mahmud, in the news release, said First Eagle’s investment capabilities — particularly in the alternative credit segment the firm has been building out aggressively in recent years — are relevant to the evolving needs of insurance companies.
A spokesman for the firm couldn’t immediately say how much of First Eagle’s $128 billion in total assets under management were managed on behalf of insurance clients.
Cowan comes to First Eagle from Guggenheim Investments, where she served as managing director, insurance relationship management and business development.
Cowan’s responsibilities have been taken up by Managing Director Suzanne Stone and other members of the firm's client service team, said a spokesman for the firm
