Jean-Guy Desjardins, founder of Fiera Capital Corp., has returned to serve as its chief executive officer, effective immediately, succeeding Jean-Philippe Lemay.
Mr. Desjardins will now serve as chairman and chief executive officer, according to a Monday news release, among a number of other executive appointments.
According to Fiera's website, Mr. Desjardins founded the company in 2003 and served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer from Sept. 1, 2010, to Dec. 31, 2021.
In discussing the change in CEO, David Shaw, lead director of Fiera Capital's board of directors, stated in the release that the board "has concluded that as the asset management industry continues to deal with complex macroeconomic challenges, Jean-Guy Desjardins is uniquely qualified to lead Fiera Capital through this period."
In addition, John Valentini was named executive director, president and chief executive officer of Fiera Private Markets. Mr. Valentini will continue to lead the company's private markets platform and will also be responsible, along with Mr. Desjardins, for the institutional and financial intermediary distribution team, the release noted. According to the company's website, Mr. Valentini was formerly president and chief executive officer of Fiera Private Markets.
Also, Jean Michel was appointed executive director, president and chief investment officer of Fiera Public Markets. Mr. Michel will lead the company's public markets platform, including the investment solutions team, the release said. According to the company's website, Mr. Michel was formerly the chief investment officer of public Markets.
Based in Montreal, Fiera Capital had approximately C$158.3 billion ($115.6 billion) in assets under management as of Sept. 30.
