John Cappetta joined Fiera Capital as its managing director and head of Asia, excluding Japan and Korea, the firm said in a statement on Oct 1.
The role is newly created and complements the other country roles at Fiera Capital Asia, namely its head of Japan, CJ Morrell, who was appointed in April, and Jaewoo Shim, the head of Fiera Capital Asia's Korea office, the spokesperson said.
Cappetta’s focus will be on growing Fiera's offering to Asian clients and the expansion of the Asia offices is ongoing, she added, without providing details.
Based in Singapore, he is expected to build on the company’s profitable business in Asia and support the ongoing rollout of Fiera’s decentralized distribution model, as the firm seeks to service its institutional, wholesale and financial intermediary clients in Asia directly, the statement said.
He reports to Rob Petty, executive director and chief executive officer of Fiera Capital Asia.
Cappetta was most recently head of private banking and Asia adviser at Ninety One, which had £128.6 billion ($162.6 billion) in assets under management as of June 30.
A spokesperson confirmed his departure and that his responsibilities are being covered by the firm’s Asian client group while it actively recruits a successor.
