Gary Horton was appointed head of distribution, Australia and New Zealand, at Federated Hermes as part of a broader push to expand its institutional and wholesale distribution capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Sydney-based position is new.
Mr. Horton was head of institutional business in Australia at Janus Henderson, according to a Federated Hermes news release. A Janus-Henderson spokesman said information on plans to fill the head of institutional business role wasn't immediately available.
The same news release said Alex Ng will join Federated Hermes in Singapore next month as head of wholesale distribution, Asia — also a new position.
Mr. Ng was director, banks-Singapore at Aberdeen Standard Investments. A spokeswoman for Aberdeen Standard said Mr. Ng's responsibilities will be taken up by other members of the firm's distribution team.
Finally, Mark Coppell, a London-based senior client relationship manager with Federated Hermes, has relocated to Singapore as director, global liquidity, Asia-Pacific.
Messrs. Horton, Ng and Coppell will report to Jakob Nilsson, the firm's Singapore-based head of distribution, Asia Pacific.
The firm has also opened an office in Sydney, the news release said. A prior office was closed when Hermes hired IMH Squared, a Sydney-based third-party marketing firm led by Ian Manton-Hall, to cover the Australian market for the firm, a spokeswoman said in an email. With Hermes combined with Federated, “it makes sense for the business to establish a firm footprint in the region, alongside Ian’s continued efforts,” she said.
