Bill Maldonado will join Singapore-based Eastspring Investments as head of equities, the money management arm of London-base Prudential PLC announced Thursday.
The position is a new one, said a spokeswoman for the firm.
Mr. Maldonado will start at Eastspring on Sept. 6, reporting to Boon Peng Ooi, head of Eastspring portfolio strategies.
He comes to Eastspring from HSBC Global Asset Management where he served for almost 30 years, most recently as Asia-Pacific CIO and global CIO, equities.
HSBC announced in December that Mr. Maldonado would be moving on and named Cecilia Chan, the firm's CIO, fixed income, Asia-Pacific, as his replacement.
Eastspring had more than $254 billion in assets under management as of June 30.
