Vis Nayar will join Eastspring Investments as chief investment officer in June, the $216 billion asset management arm of U.K. insurer Prudential, the firm said in a statement on Feb. 22.
Nayar will lead Eastspring's investment strategies from Singapore, where he will report to CEO Bill Maldonado and join the executive management committee.
Nayar succeeds Maldonado, who was CIO before his promotion to CEO in September. Maldonado has been serving as interim CIO since. He joined Eastspring in 2021 as head of equities also from HSBC Global Asset Management where he was the CIO for Asia-Pacific.
Nayar was global CIO for equities at HSBC Asset Management, and worked at the firm for 25 years.
An HSBC spokesperson confirmed that Nayar has left to pursue external opportunities. "Pierin Menzli, currently CIO of thematic equity, will act as global CIO of equity until a permanent appointment is made. Pierin will retain his current responsibilities and remain based in Switzerland," she said. HSBC AM managed $662 billion in assets globally as of Sept. 30.
