Dominic Byrne has been appointed head of global equities for AXA Investment Managers Core, effective Sept. 16, according to a news release.
The new role was established to achieve strategic goals and manage several global equity portfolios. It is part of effort to expand the global equity team with recent hires in the team of Stephanie Li and Koichiro Nanaumi, focusing on Asian and Japanese equities, respectively.
Byrne will report to Jeroen Bos, global head of equities, and is based in London.
Prior to joining AXA, Byrne spent over 20 years at Standard Life, now abrdn since its merger in 2017, most recently as deputy head of developed markets.
Byrne was also a member of the impact and climate pod, working alongside Sarah Norris, Blair Couper and Tony Hood. A spokesperson confirmed Norris will continue to lead the impact strategies, while Chris Haimendorf, a senior investment director based in the U.S., and Catriona Macnair, an investment director based in Edinburgh, were added to the team.
“Equity investing continues to be of strategic importance at AXA IM, and we are therefore very pleased that Dominic joins us as to further accelerate our growth ambitions,” Bos said in the release.
AXA IM managed approximately €859 billion ($920.1 billion) in assets, as of June 30.
