Edwin Lawrence was named head of Middle East at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, a spokesman said.
Mr. Lawrence replaces Suhail Albaz, who left in October 2018. Mr. Lawrence leads Columbia Threadneedle's client relationships and sales in the Middle East region, reporting to Michael Housden, head of institutional distribution for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
"(Mr. Lawrence's) appointment reflects our ambition to continue to grow our business in the Middle East as we prepare to celebrate our Dubai office's 10-year anniversary," Mr. Housden said in a news release. "We look forward to broadening and deepening our client relationships in the region under (his) leadership."
Mr. Lawrence worked at Franklin Templeton Investments in Dubai, where he was institutional sales director for the Middle East, since 2009. Details of his replacement were not available.
Columbia had £368 billion ($447 billion) in assets under management as of June 30.
