Abhi Shroff joined Cohen & Steers' newly opened Singapore office Monday as senior vice president and head of institutional distribution, Asia-Pacific.
Mr. Shroff comes to the New York-based money manager from the Singapore office of Dimensional Fund Advisors, where he served as head of institutional business, Asia ex-Japan.
A Dimensional spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
Singapore becomes Cohen & Steers' third office in the Asia-Pacific region, following the opening a Hong Kong office in 2005 and a Tokyo office in 2011, a spokeswoman for the firm said, adding that Cohen & Steers' currently manages roughly $13 billion for Asia-Pacific-based clients.
Mr. Shroff will report to Marc Haynes, a senior vice president and head of international institutional distribution for the firm.
Mr. Shroff's addition will allow the firm to better meet institutional demand in the region for real asset strategies, including Cohen & Steers' public real estate and infrastructure offerings, Mr. Haynes said in a news release.
Cohen & Steers currently has about $80 billion in assets under management, according to the firm's website.
