David Walker joined credit manager CIFC as head of research.
Mr. Walker, who started March 17, oversees the firm's U.S. credit research platform, which is staffed by 20 research analysts, spokeswoman Amanda Klein confirmed in an email.
Mr. Walker replaces Elizabeth Chow, managing director, who remains on the credit research team. He reports to Stephen J. Vaccaro, CIFC's CEO and CIO, and is based in New York.
"During this time of unprecedented market volatility, David's appointment underscores our unwavering commitment to the long-term growth and success of our alternative credit platform," Mr. Vaccaro said in a news release. "I am confident that (David's) deep fundamental research expertise, credit industry experience and collaborative management approach will further strengthen the development of our talented team of research analysts," he added.
Mr. Walker previously was director of corporate credit research at Genworth Financial. Genworth spokeswoman Julie Westermann said in an email that the firm does not have immediate plans to replace Mr. Walker.
CIFC manages $26 billion in corporate and structured credit strategies.
