Sargent McGowan was named chief investment officer for endowments and foundations at money manager Brown Advisory.
It is a new position, a spokeswoman said. Based in Charlottesville, Va., McGowan started with the firm on Nov. 4 and reports to Charles Constable, head of Brown Advisory’s private client, endowment and foundations business.
McGowan was previously managing director at the University of Virginia Investment Management Co., where he was a senior team member responsible for managing the university’s $14.2 billion long-term pool of endowment assets. Officials there could not be immediately reached for further information.
As of Sept. 30, Brown Advisory had $165 billion in assets under management.
