Brett S. Messing was named co-CIO by alternatives manager SkyBridgeCapital II.
Mr. Messing, a partner, retains his positions as president and chief operating officer, according to a letter to SkyBridge clients obtained by Pensions & Investments.
He will work closely with Raymond C. Nolte, co-CIO and senior partner.
SkyBridge noted in the letter that Mr. Nolte extended his employment contract to Dec. 31, 2024.
Mr. Messing replaces Troy A. Gayeski, partner and co-CIO, who resigned from the firm, effective Tuesday, to pursue other opportunities, the letter said.
Messrs. Gayeski and Nolte joined SkyBridge in July 2010 when the company acquired Citigroup Alternative Investments' funds-of-funds business.
"We will miss Troy both professionally and personally and wish him continued success in his future endeavors," SkyBridge's letter said.
Mr. Gayeski could not be reached for comment.
SkyBridge Capital managed $6.5 billion as of May 31.
