Thomas P. "Todd" Gibbons was named CEO of Bank of New York Mellon, spokesman Manny Goncalves said.
Mr. Gibbons had served as interim CEO since September when prior CEO Charles W. Scharf informed the bank's board of directors of his intention to resign.
Before taking on the interim CEO role, Mr. Gibbons was vice chairman and CEO of clearing, markets and client management at BNY Mellon.
BNY Mellon has $37.1 trillion in assets under custody and/or administration, and $1.9 trillion in assets under management.
