Matt Shafer was named head of European distribution for BNY Mellon Investment Management's U.K. and continental European businesses, the asset manager said Wednesday in a news release.
It is a new position. Mr. Shafer, who will start in January and be based in London, will report to Matt Oomen, global head of distribution.
Mr. Oomen said in the news release that Mr. Shafer brings a background in building and growing distribution businesses across the U.K. and continental Europe, and "is a strong advocate of the multi-investment firm model."
Mr. Shafer was previously head of international distribution at Natixis Investment Managers in London, covering financial institutions, intermediary and retail markets, and captive assets for Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. A Natixis spokesman said Mr Shafer's replacement will be named soon.
BNY Mellon Investment Management had $2.3 trillion in assets under management as of Sept. 30.
