Paul Bolinowsky joined BNY Mellon Investment Management in Sydney as country head Australia, effective Monday.
Mr. Bolinowsky replaces Phil Filippelis.
Mr. Filippelis left the firm in March, a spokeswoman for the firm said in an email. Mr. Filippelis couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
He reports to Deborah Bannon, head of institutional distribution, Asia-Pacific ex-Japan and head of consultant relations, Asia-Pacific.
Mr. Bolinowsky is tasked wtih expanding the firm's institutional business in Australia and will work closely with investors and prospects there while looking "at strategic opportunities in other channels," Ms. Bannon said in a news release.
Mr. Bolinowsky, in the same news release, cited Alcentra, Mellon and Newton among BNY Mellon Investment Management's money management affiliates offering traditional and alternative capabilities of interest to institutional investors in Australia.
Among other affiliates, London-based Insight Investment has its own distribution team in Australia while Edinburgh-based Walter Scott Partners uses a third-party marketer, the spokeswoman said.
Mr. Bolinowsky joined BNY Mellon Investment Management from Glennon Capital, a Sydney-based asset management boutique where he was CEO through December 2019. Details on his replacement could not immediately be learned.
