Luiz Sorge was named head of Latin America for BNP Paribas Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
It is a new position, effective Jan. 1. Mr. Sorge is based in Sao Paulo and will report to Sandro Pierri, global head of client group.
Mr. Sorge will retain his current responsibilities as CEO of BNP Paribas Asset Management Brazil, and as part of his new position, he will oversee the money manager's operations in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
BNP Paribas Asset Management is the asset management arm of BNP Paribas. The unit had €445 billion ($520.9 billion) in assets, as of Sept. 30.
