Zhikai Chen joined BNP Paribas Asset Management in Hong Kong on Thursday as head of Asian equities.
He replaces Arthur Kwong, who will leave the firm to pursue other opportunities, a BNP Paribas news release said.
He will report to Guy Davies, global CIO for fundamental active equities.
Mr. Chen joined from Lombard Odier Investment Managers, where he was head of Asia ex-Japan equities.
A spokeswoman for Lombard Odier did not respond to queries regarding whether the role of head of Asia ex-Japan equities would be filled.
The BNP Paribas news release said two more Lombard Odier employees had also been added to the firm's Asian equities team in Hong Kong as portfolio managers — both new roles: Roxy Wong, who was a senior portfolio manager for Asia and Jinwen Ouyang, who was a portfolio manager.
The Lombard Odier spokeswoman said veteran managers Odile Lange-Broussy and Juan Mendoza continue to oversee key Asian equity funds and the firm is moving to hire a number of veteran managers to complement them.
