Alex Bernhardt joined BNP Paribas Asset Management as global head of sustainability research.
Mr. Bernhardt started Wednesday and replaces Gabriel Wilson-Otto. A spokesman said Mr. Wilson-Otto is still with the firm for a handover period. Details about Mr. Wilson-Otto's future plans were not available.
Reporting to Jane Ambachtsheer, global head of sustainability, Mr. Bernhardt is responsible for the manager's sustainability research agenda and ESG scoring platform. He also manages the team of ESG analysts.
"Alex will play an important role in driving our research agenda, thought leadership and thematic fund development," Ms. Ambachtsheer said in a news release. "His extensive experience in sustainable investment and climate risk management will bring new insights to support our investment teams in generating long-term sustainable returns for our clients."
BNP Paribas AM had €483 billion ($593.2 billion) in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
Mr. Bernhardt was director of innovations at professional services firm Marsh McLennan.
