David Hickey was named head of U.K. sustainability for BlackRock, according to an internal memo from Stephane Lapiquonne, head of sustainability for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, provided to Pensions & Investments.
Mr. Hickey will be based in primarily in Edinburgh, the memo said.
Mr. Hickey previously oversaw responsible investing for Scotland's second-largest public pension fund, Lothian Pension Fund, Edinburgh, with £8.7 billion ($10.9 billion) in assets. A call to Lothian was not immediately returned.
Ms. Lapiquonne said in the memo that Ewa Jackson will continue as head of sustainable client solutions for EMEA and oversee a new team of sustainability specialists, including Mr. Hickey.
Charlotte Mansson will become head of sustainability for the Nordic region. Ms. Mansson will be based in Copenhagen. She previously was senior vice president and head of ESG product strategy and commercialization at Sustainalytics. A spokeswoman said in an email Sustainalytics is interviewing candidates to replace her.
Julie Ansidei, who joined the asset manager in March as head of EMEA external engagement, will also be head of sustainability for France.
Ms. Lapiquonne said in the memo that BlackRock also hopes to announce sustainability heads for Germany and the Netherlands later this year.
