BlackRock chose Susan Chan to be its new head of Asia-Pacific, promoted two executives to deputy heads, and appointed a new head of China, the asset manager said in a statement on Jan. 13.
Chan continues to be based in Hong Kong and was promoted from her role as deputy head of Asia-Pacific, head of Greater China and head of trading, liquidity and lending in Asia-Pacific. She replaces Rachel Lord who the firm said was promoted to become the head of international and will relocate to London.
Andrew Landman and Hiroyuki Shimizu were promoted to deputy heads of Asia-Pacific. Both now have expanded roles. Landman will continue to lead teams that cover the Australia and New Zealand markets, and take on leadership responsibilities in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific wealth business.
Shimizu will retain his duties as head of Asia-Pacific institutional and head of Japan and South Korea, while taking on Taiwan as an additional market under his remit.
Landman has been with BlackRock for 11 years, while Shimizu joined the firm in 2022 from Morgan Stanley Investment Management.
Hua Fan has taken over as head of China. She joined the firm in 2022 as the head of BlackRock CCB Wealth Management, the joint venture with China Construction Bank and Singapore state investment firm Temasek.
Jim Zhang took her place as general manager of BlackRock CCB Wealth. He has been with BlackRock for eight years, most recently as the chief liaison to China Construction Bank. He has held other positions with the firm including deputy general manager, chief technology officer, and chief operating officer of the firm's mutual fund business.
BlackRock had $10 trillion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
