Valerie Speth joined BlackRock Real Assets in Singapore as a managing director on the firm's Asia-Pacific renewable power team, a spokeswoman for BlackRock confirmed.
Ms. Speth with lead investment and portfolio management efforts in Southeast Asia for BlackRock's $4.8 billion Global Renewable Power fund.
The position is new. Ms. Speth will report to Keith Mangan, BlackRock's head of Asia-Pacific for its renewable power team.
In her new role Ms. Speth will be focused on earlier stage assets to be developed and constructed to achieve attractive risk-adjusted returns, the spokeswoman said.
More than a third of the $4.8 billion total will be invested in the Asia-Pacific region.
Ms. Speth comes to BlackRock from juwi AG, a Worrstadt, Germany-based firm focused on turnkey renewable power projects worldwide, where she served as regional director for Asia-Pacific. Christian Cronje, juwi's Asia-Pacific chief financial officer, will replace Ms. Speth as regional director, a spokesman said.
