Kevin Haines was named head of social policy at non-bank debt issuance specialist Bedford Row Capital, a spokesman said.
The role is new.
Mr. Haines leads the ESG offering at the firm, developing due diligence processes and communicating the firm's approach on ESG to investors.
"Having professor Kevin Haines on board is an exciting milestone for BRC," CEO Scott Levy said in a news release. "As ESG becomes front of mind for many firms and investors, Kevin will apply his intellectual rigor to the issue to develop leading due diligence processes to help us identify firms to investors that adhere to strict ESG principles and develop our offering at a critical time in the market's development."
Mr. Haines will split his time between the firm's offices in London and Tallinn, Estonia.
He most recently led a department at the University of Trinidad and Tobago as a criminologist.
