Nancy Mueller Handal has been appointed chief investment officer of Bayview Asset Management's newly launched insurance asset management division.
She assumes a newly created role, a spokeswoman for Bayview said by email. Bayview Insurance Asset Management is the name of the new division, the spokeswoman added.
Bayview noted in a Monday release that it is positioned to launch this new division as it is a residential loan servicer with $620 billion of owned mortgage servicing rights, having purchased more than $163 billion of residential loans from over 1,000 counterparties and originated over $123 billion of residential loans since inception. She will be based in Morristown, N.J., and New York and report to David Ertel, CEO of Bayview, the spokeswoman added.
Ms. Mueller Handal formerly served as the head of private fixed income and alternatives at MetLife Investment Management. In that role, she oversaw approximately $150 billion of investments.
A spokesman for MetLife said Jennifer Potenta has succeeded Ms. Mueller Handal in her prior role.
Bayview has approximately $17.3 billion in assets under management.
