John Ockerbloom was named managing director and head of U.S. real estate equity at Barings, spokeswoman Rachel White said in an email.
It is a new position. Mr. Ockerbloom started in the Charlotte, N.C.-based role July 8 and reports to Anthony Sciacca, global head of Baring's alternative investments group, Ms. White said.
Mr. Ockerbloom was previously managing director, global head of real estate, gaming and lodging investment banking at Jefferies Group. Richard E. Khaleel, Jefferies spokesman, was not available to provide further information.
Barings has about $317 billion in assets under management.
