Laurent Clavel was named global head of multiasset at AXA Investment Managers, effective Sept. 1.
Based in Paris, Mr. Clavel will report to Hans Stoter, global head of AXA IM core, the firm said in a Friday news release.
In his new role, Mr. Clavel will be tasked with lifting the "investment, commercial and financial performance of the multiasset platform," the release noted.
He will succeed Serge Pizem, who will "pursue new professional challenges outside AXA IM," the release added.
Mr. Clavel is currently head of AXA IM's Quant Lab. A spokeswoman for AXA said by email that his successor as head of the Quant Lab "will be communicated in the coming weeks."
The Quant Lab was set up to "foster innovation, focusing on quantitative research, portfolio engineering, product engineering and data science," AXA said in the release.
AXA managed about $962 billion in assets as of March 31.
