Mark Versey was appointed CEO of Aviva Investors effective immediately, a spokeswoman confirmed.
Mr. Versey replaced Euan Munro, who is leaving the firm for another money manager, the spokeswoman said. Mr. Munro went on leave as of Monday. He was CEO of Aviva Investors for seven years.
Mr. Versey, whose appointment is subject to regulatory approval, also joins Aviva’s group executive committee, reporting to Amanda Blanc, Aviva Group CEO.
Mr. Versey was most recently CIO of real assets. The £47 billion ($64.2 billion) unit includes infrastructure, real estate and private debt. A replacement for Mr. Versey and any further changes will be announced “in due course,” the spokeswoman added.
“Mark is the leader that Aviva Investors needs to take it forward,” Ms. Blanc said in a news release. “Aviva Investors is a core part of Aviva and its investment capabilities are critical to our ambition to be the U.K.’s leading insurer. I have been impressed with Mark’s determination to strengthen Aviva Investors, deliver excellent investment performance and extend our leadership in responsible investing.”
Ms. Blanc also thanked Mr. Munro for his leadership. “He leaves with our best wishes for the next stage of his career.”
Aviva Investors has £355 billion in assets under management.
