Queensland Investment Corp. promoted Andrew Whittaker to the new role of investment director for strategy and implementation within the state investments team, a spokesman confirmed.
The appointment was effective this year and Mr. Whittaker reports directly to Allison Hill, state chief investment officer.
The state investments team invests on behalf of QIC's state government clients. QIC's state investments team has A$59.9 billion ($41.8 billion) in assets under management.
Mr. Whittaker was a senior portfolio manager with both the state investments and liquid markets group teams. "While with LMG, he was directly responsible for one of Australia's largest, externally managed insurance investment portfolios," the spokesman said.
His previous responsibilities are now being covered internally, the spokesman added.
QIC runs a total A$98.7 billion in assets under management.
