Gianni Casella was named chief investment officer at Asset Management One International, the EMEA business of Tokyo-based Asset Management One, a spokeswoman confirmed.
He replaces Eiichi Watatani, who will return to Tokyo after completing his five-year assignment in London, she said. Further details were not immediately available.
Mr. Casella will lead the team in London for the $512 billion money management firm.
His appointment is subject to regulatory approval from the Financial Conduct Authority.
"With a long serving career at the firm, he will add further regional flavor to the Asset Management One Group as we plan to expand our global presence and enhance our investment proposition for global and regional investors," Toru Yoshibe, CEO at AMOI, said in a news release.
Mr. Casella was head of fixed income at AMOI. Details on any replacement could not immediately be learned.
