Alexis Ng joined emerging markets investment specialist Ashmore as head of Asia ex-Japan, according to sources.
Ms. Ng took the role on in mid-December and is based in Singapore.
She has been tasked with leading the growth of Ashmore's Asia-Pacific business. A spokeswoman confirmed that Ms. Ng has joined the company and that her main responsibilities involve being head of distribution for Asia ex-Japan and CEO of Ashmore Singapore.
Ms. Ng reports to Ashmore's global head of distribution, the spokeswoman confirmed, without providing a name.
Ms. Ng replaced Michael Winter, who will leave retire at the end of January, one source said. He had been in the role for 11 years. The spokeswoman declined to comment on Mr. Winter's next move.
Ashmore Group is listed in the U.K. and had $64 billion assets under management as of June 30.
Ms. Ng was country manager for Singapore and managing director for Asia-Pacific at the privately-owned Muzinich & Co., a public and private corporate credit specialist investment firm. She joined Muzinich, which has $39 billion in assets under management, in 2018.
A Muzinich & Co. spokeswoman confirmed that Ms. Ng left the firm at the end of last year and that Andrew Tan is now head of Asia-Pacific. He joined the company in 2020 as managing director and head of Asia-Pacific private debt.
