Michael Cirami was named managing director and lead portfolio manager of a new emerging markets debt team at Artisan Partners Asset Management.
It is a new position, said Eileen L. Kwei, managing director and chief administrative officer. Mr. Cirami was previously co-director of emerging markets and a portfolio manager on Eaton Vance's emerging markets team.
Emerging markets debt will be a new asset class for Artisan Partners, Ms. Kwei said. Joining Mr. Cirami from Eaton Vance to develop the team are Michael O'Brien, managing director and head of global trading for the emerging markets debt strategies, and Sarah Orvin, portfolio manager.
Mr. O'Brien was previously the other co-director of emerging markets at Eaton Vance, and Ms. Orvin was a portfolio manager on the emerging markets team.
Eaton Vance spokeswoman Colleen Lavery said John Baur, portfolio manager and previously director of portfolio analysis, and Marshall Stocker, portfolio manager and previously director of country research, have been appointed as co-directors of the emerging markets team.
At Artisan Partners, the new team plans to launch its initial emerging markets debt strategies in the first half of 2022, Ms. Kwei said.
As of July 31, Artisan Partners had $175.2 billion in assets under management.
