Alexander Lenz was named CEO for Asia-Pacific at Aquila Capital, leading the firm's new regional hub in Singapore.
The role is new, a spokeswoman confirmed.
The Hamburg-based alternatives money manager is expanding its Singapore operations to be closer to target markets and clients in APAC, a news release said. The firm will now offer access to the renewable energy sector in APAC, with an initial focus on solar photovoltaic technology and wind energy. Access to hydropower and energy storages are "on the horizon," the release said.
The firm is starting with 10 staff in the Singapore hub and intends to further increase this number, a spokesman said.
"There is a strong and growing demand for renewable energy investments in the Asia-Pacific region," Roman Rosslenbroich, CEO and co-founder, said in the release. "The region offers immense opportunities for investors in renewable energy assets and other sustainable real assets."
Aquila Capital has €11.1 billion ($13 billion) in assets under management.
Mr. Lenz was CEO of energy firm Conergy.
