Tetsuji Okamoto will join Apollo Global Management in Tokyo on Monday as a partner and head of Japan, according to a company announcement.
The role is new. He will report to Steve Martinez, senior partner and head of Asia-Pacific.
Mr. Okamoto comes to Apollo from Bain Capital in Tokyo, where he served as a managing director, "responsible for overseeing execution processes for new deals and existing portfolio companies in Japan," according to a Thursday news release. A Bain Capital spokeswoman didn't respond to queries about whether Mr. Okamoto's position at the company would be filled.
An Apollo spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for further comment.
