Edward Palmer was named CIO at private markets firm Alpha Real Capital, a spokesman said.
The role is new. Mr. Palmer started Tuesday.
"Ed's understanding of real assets, credit, and risk will make an important contribution to our growth as a leading provider of secure income solutions for U.K. and European investors," Phillip Rose, CEO at Alpha Real Capital, said in a news release.
Mr. Palmer's role follows the appointments of Nauman Ahmed as director of investment risk and Shajahan Alam as director, cashflow driven investments in December as well as the appointment of Boris Mikhailov as head of client solutions in March 2020.
Alpha has over £4 billion ($5.5 billion) in assets under management.
The firm specializes in commercial real estate, U.K. renewable infrastructure, social real estate and secured lending strategies.
Mr. Palmer was CIO EMEA at MetLife Investment Management, where he was responsible for leading the EMEA business across public and private credit, infrastructure and real estate.
A spokesman could not be reached to provide details of his replacement.
